Lotusbits have three full-time mechanics - all Lotus enthusiasts, carrying out anything from minor Lotus repairs to complete body off Lotus restorations, the workshop has three bays and two certified ramps and there is separate on site, clean, indoor storage for at least 10 customer vehicles.
There are clean-room facilities to cater for Lotus engine rebuilds, either standard, fast road performance or full competition builds, including a fuel injection conversion service including fitting and mapping.
A rebuild service is available for more difficult (non DIY) sub-assembly builds e.g. Esprit rear uprights, water pumps, Elite drive shafts etc. The completed (original) items are re-assembled and shipped back to the customer.
A fitting service is offered for all parts supplied, including common "wear" components such as Excel, Esprit wheel bearings, Excel, Elite, Eclat suspension bushes and Excel rear seatbelt mountings.
On-site standard Lotus engine rebuilds are £2800 (assuming no major internal damage, i.e the block, crank, pistons, head, valves etc. are salvageable - if there's a rod hanging out of the side of the block it will obviously cost more)!
Lotus engine rebuilds include all gaskets and seals, piston rings, liners, shell and thrust bearings, crank regrind if required, valve seats recut, valve guides changed as necessary, water pump rebuilt with new internals, oil pump stripped, inspected and replaced as required. (£2800 does not include removal of engine or carburettors, or refitting, although this can be carried out in the workshop if required).
Reconditioned Lotus Excel and Lotus Esprit brake calipers are supplied and fitted along with Lotus big brake conversions, polyurethane suspension bushes and spring and damper kits for fast road and competition use.
Lotusbits workshop has extensive experience fitting Excel headlining, Excel door beams and Lotus Excel windscreens.
Fibreglass damage and paintwork repairs or re-sprays can be catered for on-site too.
Lotusbits specialise in upgrading Lotus road or competition vehicles, see Upgrades for details.
